Eve 5 is here

Eve 5 is now available in the App Store, embracing the latest and greatest technologies for an even better app experience.

Built for 14

First and foremost, Eve now builds on the capabilities of iOS 14 and iPadOS 14 to lay a rock-solid foundation for future updates. This means a couple of visual improvements, as well: Eve now utilizes the screen resolutions of iPhone 12 mini, iPhone 12, iPhone 12 Pro and iPhone 12 Pro Max perfectly, and iPad users can admire a new, fully native sidebar. We’ve also thrown in a dark app icon alternative that you can enable by heading to Settings > Appearance.

Built for the Mac

When Apple announced the changes coming to the Mac platform, we didn’t think twice and immediately went to work to make sure Eve shines on the newest generation of Macs, as well. With Eve 5 and a Mac with a M1 chip, you can now enjoy all the power of a full-fledged HomeKit app with the comfort of your mouse, keyboard and big screen.

How to install Eve 5 on your Mac: On your Mac with a M1 processor, start Safari and open https://apps.apple.com/us/app/eve-for-homekit/id917695792. Click “View in Mac App Store” and get Eve 5.

Built for privacy

We applaud Apple’s continued efforts to raise the bar for privacy, and couldn’t be happier about the new privacy information presented for every app in the App Store. Eve has always been synonymous with privacy, and you’ll see that reflected in the now publicly disclosed app privacy section. As before, rest assured that Eve does not harvest your personal data, and that your data will never be analyzed or used for advertising purposes. Learn more

Built for you

If you’ve already invited Eve into your home, you may have already noticed that we never stop improving and looking for useful features to add. This release is no different, making the accessories you already own even better:

• The schedule editor of Eve Thermo has been further improved.
Eve Light Strip now supports schedules.
• The secondary information display for Eve Degree and Eve Room has been refined.

We hope you enjoy this release of the Eve app — see you in 2021!

Hello Mark! Eve will only run on Macs with M1/M2/M3, there is no version for Intel Macs and we don't plan to develop one, sorry. Best regards, Volker

Hallo Eve-Team,

Hier also noch einmal mein Informationswunsch.

I can't find the app for macOS Monterey - only for Venture. Is it really true you don't support my iMac?

Dear Volcker
Do Eve products need to be integrated with one of either the Apple Home App, or the Eve Home App, or do both need to be installed?
Thanks
Nick

Hello Nick! Eve, and all other 3rd party HomeKit-apps (Home.app is the only privileged one) are only clients using the HomeKit framework and its (public) capabilities. Rules are nothing Eve “runs”, Eve only is the user interface to set them up and hand them over to HomeKit. So you may use either apps or one of the +300 other Homekit enabled apps. Hello Ethan! Eve 5.2.1 runs perfect on a M1 Mac for most customers. There is a known problem. What would fix it for is running the Calendar.app that is a part of the system once, then Eve will start as normal. Best regards, Volker

I'm a big user of Eve devices having over 11 throughout my home right now with more planned in the future pending the addition of Thread. I'm also a big user of exporting the measurement data from all of the devices for use in a custom monitoring database and this is where my request for improvements come in. I would like the following added to the Eve App (Mac and/or iOS/iPadOS):
1. Ability to automate the export of multiple device/sensor data so I don't have to manually go through every device and sensor and click on the export - this will get more time consuming the more devices I purchase;
2. The exported data files should include the device serial number in the header of the file so that the multiple sensors on a device are easier to combine and sensor/device exports with similar names are easier to save without overwriting.

Hello Ian! As of today HomeKit does not allow loading historical in background or automatically to the iPhone. This still remains a manual process. When exporting the data it shows the Eve accessory and the accessory number to easy identify. Best regards, Volker

Hi Volker,

1. On the M1 Mac does the Eve app have connections to Automator/Shortcuts/AppleScript to execute this type of process, or could it be added? This would allow a script to be written that can automate this process if only on the Mac.
2. Exports on the iPhone only have the following: Accessory, Room, Home as part of the header section. There is no number or other unique ID (like the serial number) in this section. Could the Serial number be added to the export file?

Hallo Ian! Eve on the M1 Mac has pretty much the same options the app Home from Apple has. It is more lees just a client. On export of the historical data you find the accessory name & accessory number like Eve Energy B4 to identify. Beste regards, Volker

Hello Volker, I am with Ian there: Wemo offered weekly and monthly exports by email for each device. I had to switch to Eve, because the Wemo Insight was discontinued in Europe. I need to send exports of my consumption to the company I work for because they pay for my electric bills in homeoffice (car, AC, computer etc). Going through 6 devices each month is something I do not look forward to

Hello, I appreciate your well designed products and also your app that I tend the use even more than the HomeKit app.
However, I’m missing one feature in your app, the ability to use the HomeKit groups. Example, in HomeKit favourites and in each room, several devices can be controlled in one grouped “tile”. In the Eve app, they will appear as individual devices both in At A Glance and in each room. The only place you support groups is in the Settings, Groups.

Hello Sverre! Eve only supports Groups to be used for Siri. As of today we don't support adding groups like the app Home from Apple does. I will pass on your request to the developers. Have a great start into the week, Volker

Why isn't the Mac version compatible with Macs that are older and lack the M1 processor? I was looking forward to downloading it only to see it isn't compatible with my 2017 Macbook Pro.

Hello Steve! Eve 5 is a Universal App for iPhone and iPad. A M1 based Mac can run the iPad version of Eve 5, and we've adapted it to make sense on the Mac. This is not a Catalyst app, so it won't run on an Intel Mac. A version for Intel Macs is not planned yet. Best regards, Volker

Hallo Mike!
