IFA 2017: Elgato brings display and touch control to Eve Thermo

Connected radiator valve adds new features

Munich, August 29, 2017 — Elgato today announced the second generation of the connected radiator valve Eve Thermo. Eve Thermo introduces capacitive touch control, integrated temperature display of the target temperature. Furthermore, Eve Thermo can be controlled via schedules, HomeKit automations, Siri, Apple Home and the Eve app.

Eve Thermo features precise temperature control, frost damage protection and automatic valve maintenance. Energy-saving functions include open-window detection, presence detection and holiday automation. Eve Thermo includes all the features needed to keep rooms warm and comfortable, reliably, economically and automatically year round.

As with all Eve family products, HomeKit is natively supported by iOS devices. Meaning all Elgato Eve products work right out of the box, without spending extra on a bridge device or starter pack. Eve Thermo is available from September 26th for £59.95.

"Eve Thermo retains all the features of its predecessor and adds new ones. We’ve included a beautiful display with touch control," said Markus Fest, CEO of Elgato. "No other connected radiator valve is integrated so seamlessly into HomeKit and iOS.“

Smart, integrated display

The target temperature can be adjusted in increments of 0.5° C via a white-translucent LCD display and a capacitive touch control. The display is activated by a simple fingertip and switches off a few moments after the last input. The Eve app makes it easy to adjust the display orientation so you can mount Eve Thermo vertically or horizontally. You can even lock the keypad if your valve works in the kids' room, or a publicly accessible space. Despite the extended range of functions, Eve Thermo comes with a longer battery life of over 12 months.

Proven comfort package

Like the first generation of Eve Thermo, the new model also uses the reliable control technology from Eurotronic, one of Germany's market leaders in electronic radiator control systems. Eve Thermo can be controlled with schedules stored in the device, automated by HomeKit rules or timers, or via Siri, Apple Home and the Eve app to set your comfort temperature.

Advanced functions include automatic integration with an Eve Door & Window sensor installed in the same room or alternatively the integrated window detection. Either method will ensure no heating energy is wasted during the ventilation.

Eve Thermo includes both frost and valve protection; it can even set weekend and holiday settings by referring to the iPhone calendar. To prevent the home from freezing up during a holiday trip with a chosen room temperature, activate the scene Going on Vacation in the app Eve.

Location-based control

Eve Thermo can automatically lower the temperature when the last person has left the house. This feature, based on the brand-new presence detection feature of HomeKit, is easily linked to other automations.

Price and availability

Eve Thermo is priced at £59.95 and will be available from September 26th at Elgato and Amazon and soon at Apple. The Eve app is available for free in the App Store.
