The following features of Eve Thermo are currently not supported after upgrading to Matter:
Please note: Once you've upgraded your device to Matter, you can't migrate it back to HomeKit. Upgrading to Matter is worthwhile if you want to control your Eve devices from an additional platform. This requires a Matter controller of this platform. If your household uses Apple devices exclusively, upgrading to Matter is optional.
Open the Eve app, go to Settings > Devices and tap the device you want to upgrade. Tap "Upgrade to Matter". The Eve app will now guide you through the individual steps of the upgrade and migration process.
The upgrade will take about 10 minutes. Make sure that the migration is fully completed and do not interrupt it by resetting Eve Thermo or disconnecting it from the power supply.
A Matter code will be generated as part of the upgrade. This code completely replaces the HomeKit code. Only with this code can you add the Eve device again if it is reset – and no one else has this code. The Matter code is automatically saved in the Eve app, and you can transfer it to a second device via AirDrop or email, store it in the Photos or Files app, or print it out.
After the upgrade, it may take a while for advanced features to appear in the Eve app.
Some settings will need to be reset after the upgrade, including the temperature deviation, window detection, temperature unit, parental controls and the name of your schedule.
If you have problems adding your device again via Matter after the firmware migration, please reset it. After resetting, add it back to your home and make sure you use the Matter code that was provided to you at the beginning of the migration.
To check if the upgrade was successful on your device, go to Settings > Devices > [your Eve device] > Details > Compatibility in the Eve app – here you can see if it has been upgraded to Matter.
If your Eve device appears as "unreachable" after a while, please make sure that you have updated your iPhone and hub to software version 17.3. If the problem persists, restarting your hub may help.
Once the firmware update for Matter has been installed, open Apple Home, tap and hold the device tile and select Device details. Tap the gear icon in the bottom right corner. Tap Start pairing mode. Apple Home will now display a code that you can use to add the device to the second platform. A separate Matter hub is also required on the second platform.
